Job work: your coil rolled into sheets and purlins

If you already hold coil, or you can buy it at a better rate than we can, we will roll it for you. Send the coil to our plant and it comes back as roofing sheets, deck profile, C or Z purlins or flashings, in your lengths, with your punching, and with the offcuts accounted for.

Contractors use this to run their own coil through a profile the customer has specified. Traders use it to turn a stock coil into a sold order without owning a line.

Profiles we can roll on your coil

  • 2 Rib and 3 Rib trapezoidal roofing and cladding sheets, 1,000 mm effective cover from a 1,060 mm strip, up to 12 m long.
  • 4 Rib standing seam, rolled at your site from your coil in lengths up to 300 m.
  • Deck profile from CRCA or GI coil, 0.6 mm and up.
  • C purlins from 1.0 to 3.0 mm and Z purlins from 1.2 to 3.0 mm, web 80 to 300 mm, punched to your drawing, up to 12 m.
  • Flashings, ridges, gutters and trims folded from your sheet or coil.
  • Crimp curving of rolled sheet for curved roofs.

Slitting is done here. If your coil is a mill width we slit it to the 1,060 mm strip the rib profiles need, or to the strip width for the purlin section, and the trim is weighed, then returned to you or credited, as agreed for each job.

What to send us before the coil

  • Coil specification: base metal thickness and total coated thickness, coating class (AZ150, Z275 or similar), steel grade, and the mill test certificate.
  • Coil width and weight, and the number of coils.
  • The profile you want, and for purlins the section drawing with the punching.
  • The cutting list: lengths and quantities, with the bay or position marked if you want the bundles labelled.
  • Where the finished material goes, and whether you collect or we deliver.

Galvalume and colour coated coil should arrive with its protective film intact and the coil eye clear. We check every coil on arrival and tell you before rolling if it is out of round, edge-damaged or outside the thickness on the certificate.

How job work is priced

Conversion is charged per kg of finished material, by profile, thickness and quantity. Rates start from ₹0.25 per kg, subject to material, profile and quantity, and the actual figure also depends on the lot size and the punching. Slitting, crimp curving and delivery are separate lines. GST at 18% is extra.

Minimum lot: we roll from one full coil upwards. Below that the set-up time on the line costs more than the rolling, and we will say so rather than quote a rate that surprises you.

What we cannot do on job work

We cannot certify coil we did not buy. The mill test certificate you give us is the one that goes out with the finished sheets, and our inspection report covers the profile dimensions and the cut lengths, not the coating or the steel grade. If the coil turns out to be under gauge, the sheets will be under gauge, and we tell you as soon as we measure it.

How a job work order runs

  1. Send the coil specs and the cutting listBy WhatsApp or email. We check the coil will run on the line and quote a per kg rate.
  2. Deliver the coil to the plantWe weigh and inspect each coil on arrival and confirm the weight back to you.
  3. Slitting and rollingCoil is slit if needed, rolled to the profile, punched for purlins, and cut to your lengths.
  4. Inspection and bundlingProfile dimensions and lengths are checked, bundles are strapped and labelled to your list.
  5. Collection or deliveryYou collect from the plant or we deliver, with a weight reconciliation of coil in against material and trim out.

Send the coil specification, the profile and the cutting list, and we will send a per kg rate.

Questions we get asked

What coil thickness can you roll?

Roofing profiles from 0.4 to 0.6 mm TCT, in galvalume or galvanised colour coated coil, purlins from 1.0 to 3.0 mm in HR, CR, galvanised, galvalume or POSMAC, and deck from 0.6 mm. Send the certificate and we will tell you straight away if a coil will not run.

Do you supply the screws and flashings for job-worked sheets?

Yes, at our usual prices. Flashings can be folded from your own sheet so the colour matches exactly, and we stock self-drilling screws, foam fillers and sag rods for the profile.

How much material do I lose in rolling?

Rolling itself loses almost nothing. The loss is the slitting trim if your coil is wider than the strip, plus the coil ends and any length the cutting list does not use. We weigh the coil in and the material and trim out, and you get the reconciliation with the invoice. Trim is returned to you or credited, as agreed for each job.

How long does job work take?

Once the coil is in the plant, a standard 3 Rib run of a few tonnes is usually rolled and bundled within two to three working days. Purlins with punching and large lots are scheduled on the quote.
